After the monthly gynae check-up last Tue, I was "forced" to accompany Bec. Haha. Yes... "F.O.R.C.E.D" My initial plan was to jio Jess and Bec for lunch but since Jess has difficulty coordinating her lunch hours, I gave up on that idea. Then!!! Someone mentioned over email that she is taking half day leave. Taking half day leave... Very obvious hint people to accompany her liao right~ But she insisted 'NO SHOPPING' wor. Big deal! Want people to accompany her yet still cannot shop. Luckily for her... I am definitely not in the mood for shopping now except for a multi-purpose bag (or rather gym bag).

Anyway, we went for “The Legacy of Tan Kah Kee and Lee Kong Chian” Exhibition @ National Library. Ever since I knew the existence of this exhibition via Ah Ji, I made a mental note to visit it. When I first saw the scale of the exhibition, I was slightly disappointed. It was a rather small scale exhibition and you can see almost every exhibits within that glance. But luckily, the videos did a terrific job! The 3 videos sum up the lives of Tan Kah Kee and Lee Kong Chian and gave me a much better understanding of these 2 entrepreneurs/ educators/ community leaders/ philanthropists. Though I remember I came across their names during my path of history education somewhere, I must admit my recollection of their honourable deeds are super blurry.
.
I personally find this exhibition very enriching and enlightening. I would strongly recommend this exhibition to almost everyone. You do not have to be a history fanatic to visit this exhibition. I mean... Bec appreciated this exhibition afterall. As Singaporeans, shouldn't we know the very basic of our history? I do not quite refer to the idiot-proof history facts of when Raffles discovered Singapore or when Singapore became independent but rather, we should also give credits to our dear pioneers who have done their very share the bu idling of today's Singapore. Anyway, with everyone being engaged blindly in the rat race, they most probably find such exhibition redundant and boring etc etc etc... Yah right~ Tell me about it being boring and irrelevant etc etc etc when you are enjoying the very seeds planted by these pioneers.
