Lots of walking, pho and beer in HCM!

Claris became addicted to holidays after our Bintan trip and jio-ed us for another trip. The usual destination like BKK, HK, Phuket popped up but when TC suggested HCM, we all spontaneously agreed. So off we go to HCM in June!

Day 1
Henry suggested on XO Bike tour whereby each of us gets our own tour guide and bike. The tour was around USD70 or 90 and I was pretty reluctant about it. Reluctant not cause I had not enough money but I feel that USD70/90 can do a lot more things in HCM and I wasn't ready to be ripped off. If you know me well, you will know that I have no qualms about spending but definitely not when I am going to be ripped off.

But I must admit that the money was really well-spent. Nice food. Friendly tour guides. Interesting games to keep us engaged. Butt hurts a bit from the long ride though.

Our first stop for really good noodle stuff.

The soup was heavenly, so nice that you want to finish all yet we can't as it is a FOODIE bike tour so we still have lots of food to eat for the whole night.

The yummy noodle at a nicer and neater roadside stall.

Then our bikers brought us on a drive-through tour to Chinatown. We travelled 20 minutes just to drive through Chinatown though.

Our 2nd stop! The beginning of free flow of beer!

And seafood.

Some of the food at our 2nd stop. I can't even remember if these were all.

Frogs with skin... EEW~

I do eat frog porridge in Singapore but not when I eat the entire as it is and with skin on la. Anyway, I tried the skinless frog, pretty tasteless.

The most yummy part - goat meat. Yes, goat meat not lamb.

I am not a goat/ lamb person but these bbq meat was really awesome!

The bikers then brought us to their most atas district where they have shops like Dunkin Donuts, Popeyes etc. This is an entirely different district from the rest of HCM. Organised and well-paved roads, working traffic lights, clean roads, almost like SG.

Our last stop - supposedly a seafood feast. But our bikers kept telling us to try this. You know I am never adventurous with food but then again, i drank and ate a tiny bite of it.

The soup tasted just like chicken soup, surprisingly good. I took too small a bite to critique if it is nice anot but it is not something that I want to eat again. Too er le.

We all drank a bit of the soup except Susan who 'ta' the soup. Haha.

Soso rice crackers.

Scallops.

Clams.

Think we ended the night at 10ish 11pm. What did we do for the rest of the nigt? Cannot remember le. Probably drink a bit ba over at the guys' place.

Day 2
We started the day by walking quite a bit to some random atas shopping centre for very expensive pho. Out of that many shopping centres, we have to go to the atas one. Haha. Then we walked even more to the War Memorial Museum and only to realise that it was closed for lunch in the heavy rain. We ran to cafe opposite to seek refuge while the drinkers drowned themselves with 2 bottles of beer. What to do? Beer is too cheap.

We spent quite a bit of time in the cafe talking and drinking while it was 'raining' in the cafe as well. The shelter was very badly built. Just when the rain got smaller, we spent some time in the War Memorial Museum. Not a too objective museum though.

Basically, we walked the whole day. From shopping centre to war memorial museum to cathedral to post office. That much of walking pissed Henry off. Haha.

Was planning to go clubbing but it was raining. Laziness kicked in and we settled our dinner at the hotel restaurant before buying tons of beer up for our very own drinking party. Haha. Rather quiet party with some games, world cup and the guys doing their magic cards tricks. TC failed badly. Impressed with YY.

Day 3
Didn't do much for Day 3. Susan woke up too early so she went for her morning walk at the zoo. The guys woke up too late. Left me, Claris and TC out looking for brunch.

Walked a little to the market before we nua-ed the afternoon away at some random cafe. It was raining as well.

Ended our HCM trip with a dinner with our Vietnam colleagues and not forgetting the little joke that TC, YY, Des and I shared - the shells. Haha.

Pretty good trip and once again, I was so tired that I fell asleep even before the plane took off.

Yawn~
