26 Dec 2012 - 1 Jan 2013
With the intention to spend Christmas and New Year Eve out of Singapore and a cooling place, we decided on Hong Kong! The happiest place for both adults (for shopping and food!) and children (Disneyland).
For some strange reasons, I decided to ask my parents, brother and Cheryl along. I wonder why I put myself through this? Haha. Dad is difficult in the sense that he is very gey gao over timing and people. Mum is just long-winded for every single little thing for no good reason. If someone has stomach upset, she will ask 'why have stomach upset?'. I will tell her 'eat wrong thing loh'. Then she will ask 'why eat wrong thing?' HELLO!!!! She must have been a super curious kid. Brother ah... Is also troublesome lah. It is in our genes, I think. Bring them eat good food also complain, eat cheap food also complain. I need a break for at least 3 years. Haha. My mum asked 'where are we going this year?' I told her 'you go wherever you want to go loh'. Haha.
My family took the morning flight over to HK. We didn't want to rush ourselves and the kids so we took the noon flight.
While waiting for the family before proceeding for dinner, we cam-whored a little at Landmark. Loved their Christmas decorations!
Disneyland on Day 2! Valerie is already getting excited!
The strange little girl who refuses to get out of the picture. Haha.
Cheryl has been a great help for the trip! Thanks for taking care of Dad and Mum when our dear Brother 'pang seh' us last minute. Haha.
Valerie got really hyped in the Disney store! Who wouldn't??? The store has this magical power which entices and tempts you to buy every single thing though you will have no good use for it. You need a lot of rationale and willpower to stop yourself from falling into the Disney trap. I still feel like buying the whole shop.
Who can resist such beauty?
This little cutesy pie is not interested in the Disney merchandise. She just wants to watch the parade over again and again.
Then we went for our first ride. Buzz Light Year or something? It freaked Isabelle out totally! The dark atmosphere and noise. Wahaha. She spent the entire ride burying her face in her hands and in my tummy.
Then we went for even more rides. Isabelle just didn't like any.
Valerie enjoyed almost everything! From the shopping to food to rides and the cool weather.
Valerie and her princess castle.
Dad and Val and the castle.
Me and the princess and the castle.
Bro and Val and the same castle!
Lastly, Cheryl. Hmm... Who/ what is the main attraction here? Valerie? Or the castle? Confused.
While my family goes on their HK shopping spree, we went ice skating. Or rather Hong and the girls. I can't skate. Neither can the girls. Haha.
He must have last skated in JEC. Wonders what gave him the courage to suggest ice skating with 3 ladies who knows nothing about ice skating.
Valerie is the troublesome one here. Being overly cautious, she is so scared that she didn't exert any force in her body and went all SOFT.
Isabelle was excellent, like a pro!
It was more of a gym session for Hong. By the time, the 3 of them finished one round, he looks like he ran 2.4km. Sweating profusely in an ice skating rink. So no link.
We took a little trip out of HK and went over to xgg's place in Zhuhai. Spent Day 4 nua-ing at home. With the heavy and chilly rain in the evening, Hong and I braved through the cold weather to get all of us hot dinner.
Spent Day 5 doing a little sightseeing over Sun Yat Sen's place.
We checked into Sheraton on NYE to catch the best view for fireworks.
The fireworks... Ok lah.
It was more fun watching the crowd downstairs. The authority closed off the streets as the clock ticked past. When the firework ended, you can see the people leaving the venue in an orderly manner. I can only say it was good to have cool weather. Imagine squeezing with so many other people to watch fireworks in Singapore, NO WAY!!! HOT! And the person on my left, right, front and back is probably from another country. Yucks!
Brother Aaron came and joined us for lunch before we leave for home. Our dear photographer for this picture. Keke.
Happy 2013! (at the point this picture was taken but months later, 2013 has been sucky)
