Epidural must be the best invention in the world!
.
It made my delivery a super smooth process!
.
.
Yeah Yeah! My PRINCESS embraced the world on last Friday's evening! With contractions (for me is bad back pain) starting just before I ended Thursday night, I totally ignored the increasing frequency and intensity of the contractions due to my laziness. I lost the battle at 5.30am when it finally occurred to me that it is abnormal to be experiencing back pain for the entire night. I got up and started my observations. Reluctantly, I confirmed they were contractions at 6am. Preparations began with bathing, Mac breakfast and a trip down to my gynae at 8.30am and I was admitted at 10am.
.
Everything was still bearable at 10am with the pain scaling at 3 out of 10. I even made a phone call to my mum to inform her that I am in hospital and even chit chatted with Bec. I even sent Hong home first since I am not due anytime soon. I had a good time in the delivery suite, relaxing and watching HBO. Totally unprepared, my gynae came... broke my water bag and put me on drip. I seriously didn't know all that is going to invrease the frequency of the contractions and worse still... the pain. I stupidly thought that the pain will increase gradually. Before I can finish my show on HBO, the pain escalated to 5 out of 10. I acted tough and wanted to wait till 7 before I go on epidural. Then the next moment, the pain was totally unbearable for me. Yes, TOTALLY UNBEARABLE. It was extreme back pain!!! So extremely bad that no words can describe that kind of pain. It was the worst hour in my life and the epidural doctor was super puzzled and even asked me 'Why did you only opt for epidural now?' Luckily... The epidural took effect quickly.
.
After the worst hour of pain, I dozed off now and then. I woke up at 4 plus to 'ji siao' Bec. Before I could finish my conversation with her, my nurse informed me that I was ready for delivery so preparations were made. Basically, I just nua-ed and waited since there was NO PAIN AT ALL! :) At 5 plus, my gynae 'pushed' me for delievery. Within 45 minutes, my PRINCESS made her first L.O.U.D wail. keke. To be honest... I was disgusted with her at first sight. She was greyish purplish. Eew~ And when the nurse brought her to me and lied her next to me, I made a 'eew' face and didn't dare to look at her. Haha. All these were being captured on camera since Hong was snapping away. Hahaha. BUT... SHE IS BEAUTIFUL NOW!!!
.
Lessons Learnt:-
1. Opt for epidural early. With epidural, I don't mind having another 3 kids.
.
2. Being short-sightedness is a blessing. Do not wear your glasses. It is more comforting when you cannot exactly see what the gynae is doing... ie: forceps... sewing... etc etc
