After 4 days and 4 nights at Velassaru Maldives, I am finally back in Singapore. While I missed our chubbier princess on the flight to Male, I missed Maldives as we embarked on our journey home. keke.
.
I think we had a great trip!!! I am sure Darl agrees with me. We can never be the best shopping partners but we are definitely the best nua-ing couple around. keke. In our short getaway, we watched a total of 11 movies. Haha. We downloaded enough movies to nua our time away in Maldives.
.
Besides bringing swimwear and tank tops and shorts, we brought a luggage of food to snack during movie times. Basically, we watched movies when we were not doing any other activities.
.
Snacks! Ma chiam go camping and Darl ate most of the chips. He became fatter~
.
We stayed over at Velasssaru Maldives. This is different from our previous trips to Phuket and Krabi. Phuket and Krabu have many resorts and hotels on one island. Yet in Maldives, Velassaru Maldives occupies a whole island on its own. Small small island only lah cause we walked the Justify Fullentire perimeter while pondering what to have for dinner.
.
As we stayed in Water Villa, we had to walk a super long walkway before reaching our villa 418. That's the walkway. In the end, we changed room and we swapped over to villa 404. Keke. We didn't have to walk that long walkway again.
.
The super big room with a super big bed. Pardon my leg though. :P
.
This is what we wake up to every morning.
.
A closer view. Chio right?
.
Anyway... We had a joke on our 1st night stay. We reached our villa at their local time around 11pm. After rounds of wow-ing over the island and room, we went to sleep. Though we were super tired, I woke up at 6.30am! Nah. I didn't wake up cause I was overly excited. I woke up cause I was nearly blinded by the sun. The sun rays were penetrating in through the sheer curtains. At that point, I was like 'Don't tell me it is going to be this bright every morning, How to sleep?' Anyway, I casted my thoughts aside and went back to sleep with the sun shinning into my eyes. By the time we woke up at 8am, we realised it was our own silly mistake cause we didn't draw the blinds before we slept. Haha.
.
Our bathroom. I like~
.
Our cosy corner at the balcony.
.
Deck chairs at our balcony too.
.
Steps leading into the sea. We can actually just swim just outside our water villa.
.
Our 1st breakfast.
.
Breakfast was relatively okay except that we had too many eggs over the 4 days' of breakfast. I want to puke when I see eggs now. Despite us telling the chef to prepare only 1 portion of scrambled eggs and 1 portion of sunny side-up, the chef (no matter which chef) will never fail to prepare to prepare 2 portions of whatever you order.
.
Wergh!
.
Look carefully at the picture. The lighter colour of the water is the swimming pool. The darker shade is the sea.
.
Cam whoring on the 1st day after breakfast.
.
.
.
Our villa is one of the many behind.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Since there was nothing much to do on the 1st day, we went snorkeling.
.
The water is super clear, ma chiam swimming pool water.
.
The sand under the sea water.
.
For those who know me well, I have a phobia for water. No choice leh... Go this kind of holiday must go snorkel one. But I tell you... You can literally hear me breathing HARD under water.
.
Acting tough and happy for the camera.
.
Due to my phobia, we didn't really go far out into the sea. Partly, the current is pretty strong. So we could only capture that many things on camera. But... We saw a baby shark, sting rays and schools of dunno what fish when we were on shore, just outside our villa.
.
.
.
.
Finally!!! Snorkeling is over! I really cannot overcome my phobia. Darl still suggested that we go learn diving. Well... half of me is going to say 'NO!!!!!!!!!' instantly due to my phobia but the other half of me is considering cause Darl is interested. Dilemma.
.
After some tense snorkel (for me), we headed over to the spa hydro pool to relax awhile waiting for sunset.
.
I am enjoying myself in the hydro pool and the sea is right behind me. If you are not careful, you will just drop out of the hydro pool.
.
See~ The hydro pool is just that close to the sea.
.
The beautiful sunset.
.
After a long day, we headed over to Sand for a really good dinner. Darl's tuna (I think).
.
The super fresh and delicious King Prawns!!! Value for money!!!
.
I love the prawns!!!
.
The best fried rice we ever had!!! Yummy!!!
.
We planned for a spa session and Maldivian Fishing on our 2nd day. Due to the storm, fishing was cancelled. So we went for our spa and just nua-ed for the rest of the day. Spa is okay okay only. Phuket Banyan Tree still has the best spa!!!
.
We had buffet dinner at Vela. Nothing fantastic. If you go quantity, that is the place you should go. If you go for quality like us, don't even think about it.
.
We decided to try out Big Game Fishing on our 3rd day but it was cancelled due to the strong winds. In the end, we went snorkeling again.
.
After snorkel, we nua-ed on the beach and played with 3 hermit crabs (small, medium, large).
.
We placed them in a bottle and wondered if they will fight like fighting fishes.
.
Then we buried them under a small hill of sand and timed the duration for them to climb out of it.
.
Lastly, we dumped into the hole and test on their survival skill by providing them a twig for assistance.
.
Dinner was at Etesian. They had huge servings of garlic and cheese bread. The bread is awesome. That is cheese ice cream beside the bread. Well... You need to have an acquired taste before you can appreciate their food.
.
Some starters which I forgot what it is. Never ever order it! Yucks!
.
Strawberry sorbet before the main course.
.
My seafood stew.
.
Darl's lamb rack. Pretty nice~
.
Since our flight was only at 11pm and we had to check out at 2pm, we went for Big Game Fishing to keep us occupied. We "rented" this speedboat and went out into the sea to fish for the really big fishes.
.
My excited big boy reeling in his 1st catch.
.
Us and our 1st big catch.
.
The total fishing trip is supposed to last from 2pm to 6pm. After half an hour on the rough sea, I became sick.
.
And I basically stayed like this for the whole trip.
.
Despite being sick, I forced myself to wake up for the 2nd catch. The fish is heavy loh. I didn't manage to reel the fish in based on my tiny strength. Darl and the fishing crew helped me.
.
Acting pretty for the cammy while still being sick. Darl said a bit of sugar will help so I took a sip of coke.
.
Our catch and the helpful fishing crew.
.
We caught a total of 4 fishes. I guessed we are one of the few lucky ones cause the staff didn't know what to do with our catch. I mean... We were given an option of cooking our catch but how to finish 4 big fishes? In the end, we ate some of our fish and gave the rest to the staff.
.
Catch 1 and 2... Big leh...
.
Catch 3 and 4.
.
After a quick shower, we headed over to Sand for our dinner.
.
The chefs in charge of preparing our dinner.
.
Appetiser... King Prawn Tempura.
.
Our fish and THE fried rice again!!!
.
While we were having our dinner, this weird couple requested to be seated near the sea. In the end, the staff really arranged a table just next to the waters. Duh lah.... Cause in the first place, we were already seated very close to the sea but they just wanted to be right next to the waters. Since it was kinda dark, the staff tried to brighten up the place with 4 giant torches (those used in Survivor to represent their life line or something one). BUT!!!!!! The wind was so strong that the staff just spent their whole time relighting the torches loh. If I were the staff, I will just leave the torches alone. The flame doesn't even last more than 5 minutes. Waste of time.
.
Oh... See the birdie? This birdie is always at this same spot. It is always and forever there. I guess we should take a picture of it. Probably it was there for a reason, for the guests to take a picture with it.
.
In short, I had a great holiday!!! I am sure Darl shares the same sentiments as me. If you ask me if the trip is expensive, I tell you it is not. To us... If it is value for money, then it is not expensive. Every single cent is well spent and definitely worth the value. But well... This is all very subjective lah.
