Yesterday was such an unusual Saturday. I can't even remember when was the last time we ever woke up so early on a Saturday and were out for 15 hours with the rest. And yes~ I woke up at 8.30am to get ready to meet the rest for breakfast. Though we were all later than our agreed timing, we did manage to have our super filling breakfast in time before the breakfast deal ends.
.
Right after a sumptuous breakfast and nua-ing at Swenens @ Thomson, we accompanied Ah Luan for his 1st test drive. Well... The deal didn't pull through cause the sales person was a nua one. We didn't even get to test drive! Then we all went seperate ways for the next 2 hours with Darl and me heading for the art exhibition and the rest accompanying Ah Luan for his 2nd test drive.
.
Xu Bei Hong Art Exhibition @ Singapore Art Museum.
.
Darl is so sweet to accompany to this exhibition. I wanted to see this exhibition since its very 1st day @ SAM. After numerous arrangements with Hanzhong and Youxin, the 3 of us just could never agree on a common date. Well... Youxin is busy with school and etc etc etc while Hanzhong is just a lawyer who is totally consumed by work. I am in half-retired mode but of all days, they jio-ed 29 June 2008. Where can I find the energy for the exhibition? Thinking today is the last day for the exhibition and it is a MUST for me to visit it, I dragged Darl along. keke.
.
Well... I am glad I made it for the exhibition. Xu Bei Hong is really a great artist though I seriously do not know how to appreciate his Western paintings as I was never enlightened on that. I can only remember from my teacher that he is known for his horses. Well... I can't comment much on that too cause I never really tried to paint horses before. I always shunned away from it, giving the excuse that only the better students like Zheng Fang and Ruoxian are good enough for it. Anyway... My painting skills is below average (according to my own standard). I know I am only better in my calligraphy. Anyway, I love his displayed pieces on the eagles. Though I am no expert in the body posture and proportion of eagles, I am totally awed by the sparkle in the eagles' eyes and the strong strokes in the feathers. Majestic is the word. I love the sparrows too. He is really one great artist!
.
Thanks Darl for accompanying me. I hope I didn't bore you or rather the exhibition didn't bore you. keke.
.
After the exhibition, we made our way to Bugis while waiting for the rest. We walked around aimlessly for an hour before the rest finally joined us with Roger purchasing a new car from Ah Luan's test drive. -_- The guys accompanied us for an hour before they decided to abandon us to Au's house for their usual gamble, leaving me and Peggy in town. Well... We both stayed in Bugis before driving over to Orchard for more shopping!
.
Sale is all over town! Yesterday was also the 1st time that I ever bother to step into a shop on sale. I hated sales. It is crowded and there is always no sizes left for me. Yet, I took the effort to ransack the shops and I got myself a dress and thighs. I am so into shopping now! Yesterday was also the 1st time I bother to take a proper look at Warehouse, Miss Selfridge, TopShop, Bebe etc etc. I used to find their stuff more costly (in comparison to Far East lah) and they hardly have size 6. I changed my perspective yesterday. I am so going to splurge on their stuff when I have slimmed down. No more Far East stuff for work. Really quality for money loh.
.
Shopping was done by 7pm partly cause we ladies were tired from waking up at 10am and no food intake after breakfast. We drove down to Au's house to join the rest for dinner but since they are still so into their gambling, we only had dinner at 10pm!!! I am pretty all right with it cause I grabbed a bread before leaving town but Peggy was starving!!!
.
After another sumptuous dinner at Chomp Chomp, we made our way down to Great World for Red Cliff with the addition of Lincoln, York and gf and Rong2. Well... I kinda regretted for never paying any attention to the history of Han and 3 kingdoms. Yes~ I am a history student but I have always concentrated on the super later part of China's history, Japan's history and USA's history. I am going to read up on the 3 kingdoms. The movie is pretty all right for me with the occassional funny moments. Takeshi Kaneshiro is SOoooooo cute!
.
Well... My review is definitely of my own personal opinion only as for those who know 3 kingdoms' stuff well enough, it may be slightly boring and draggy. If you are that into 3 kingdoms, every next scene is within your expectation so that is no surprise. Lastly, I didn't know Zhao Wei is being starred in this movie. She has a much better role than Lin Chi Ling and with many more appearances but I do not recall her being featured. Hmm~ Anyway, the appearances of Lin Chi Ling is far and few and absolutely nothing impressive. No wonder, she was labelled as the 'vase'. But no choice~ There is a reason to have Xiao Qiao in the movie but the focus can never be on her. Actually, anyone else could play the role of Xiao Qiao.
